I’m late to church almost every week because I’m still learning how to get kids out the door on time. X) Yet coming to this chapel is still one of my favorite parts of my week. The people here are so loving and reflect the love of God with how they treat each other. The children’s classes are so filled with songs and lessons that strengthen their faith in Jesus Christ (my kids are sad anytime we have to stay home due to sickness because they miss going to their classes). The adult discussions are focused on the Savior and I always learn so much from everyone’s unique perspectives and testimonies of God’s dealings in their lives. I cherish this church and the way I’ve been able to grow closer to my Heavenly Father, the Savior, and the Holy Ghost because of the beautiful teachings of scripture and prophets, both ancient and modern. I visited this LDS church with an open heart and hoped of learning more about its teachings, but I left with deep concerns. The doctrine here diverges from the true gospel found in the Bible. According to Scripture, there is only one God, and Jesus is fully God (Isaiah 43:10-11, John 1:1, John 10:30). However, the teachings of Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon seem to undermine this truth, presenting ideas that often contradict the Bible. The concept of an apostasy and the need for 'new' scripture is not supported by the Bible. Galatians 1:6-9 warns against accepting a different gospel, which I feel the Book of Mormon promotes by leading believers away from Jesus as the sole way to salvation. Ephesians 2:8-9 emphasizes that we are saved by grace through faith alone, yet LDS teachings seem to add layers of works and requirements beyond what Jesus taught. If you are seeking a relationship with God, I encourage you to look solely to the Bible for the true gospel. Jesus' teachings are complete and trustworthy as they are, without the need for additional prophets or scriptures. My hope is that everyone will come to know the simplicity and truth of Jesus’ gospel found in the Bible alone. I spoke at their podium sharing my testimony of love and was confronted by their state bishop and he gave me a very passive aggressive look and handshake along with grabbing my arm in a manner that was physically altercating and off putting. Such a great congregation. Happy, friendly, welcoming people worshipping Jesus Christ. Really cool building built BY the members years ago--somewhat unlike other Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saint chapels. Our family attended this chapel last year while we were on vacation, and it was a fantastic experience! Our little 2 year-old was having a tough time that day, yet she did well in the Nursery class that was available. (There were plenty of kind teachers, fun toys, activities, and even a play-yard outside.) Everyone was so kind and welcoming whether we were in a classroom, or in the chapel getting ready for the sacrament meeting. We have been members of the this congregation since 1991. All are welcome to attend. It is a place of refuge in a time when the world needs the peace that can come from focusing on Jesus Christ.
