"Inviting thoughtful seekers to intergenerational community and Christian discipleship in the world," Knox has been my church home since 2014. I prayed for a church where my gifts could be used to further the Kingdom of God. Knox has been an answer to that prayer. I've served on the Adult Education and Spiritual Formation Committee and the Sustainability Team; I've participated in a small group that studies the Bible and secondary literature about being a follower of Jesus in the world; I've greeted, run slides, read Scripture, and sung in the choir Sunday mornings; I've been in a Zoom daily prayer group since the pandemic; I've packed sandwiches for the hungry; I've visited the hurting; I've brought gifts to the needy; I've stood on street corners with posters; I've participated in City Council meetings; I've pulled weeds; I've planted California native plants; I've shared produce; I've listened to music, seen plays, and read novels with fellow thoughtful seekers; I've shared hugs, tears, and laughter with brothers and sisters in Christ; I have been fed with beautiful music and challenging preaching and teaching. I have walked with Jesus. Knox is a welcoming church where community and love abound. There is a wonderful mix of families with small children alongside all other ages and stages. Our Pastor is warm, relevant, pastoral and accessible. The sermons are thoughtful and interesting and the focus on caring for our community, the greater community and our world matters deeply. Justice and service and growing in faith with Christ is paramount. AND the children's director is a remarkable leader and lover of kiddos. Knox has been such a welcoming community with so many amazing small groups to join and family events throughout the year. Pastor Matt is such an inspiring pastor and has given some of the best sermons I’ve heard. The Young Adults group has been such a wonderful community with regular bible studies and fun seasonal events, thanks to Josiah for leading it. All around, Knox is a very supportive and welcoming community and I recommend it to everyone. Plus they have pizza every last Sunday of the month! I love this church. I spent a long time looking for a church in Pasadena and stumbled upon Knox. After attending my first Sunday, I knew it was the body I needed to be a part of. The preaching is rich, the worship is honoring (and varied, so you never know what kind of music you'll get to experience), and most importantly, the community is warm and inviting. The easiest way to describe it is that the Holy Spirit is working in this church and you can feel that life. The church members and the pastor are 'heart of gold' people. Deeply concerned about social justice issues in our community. Knox is also a welcoming church with clear-minded folks. I'm new here but have felt supported and have been able to support others.
