This church has been such a great fit for me. I recently moved to Pasadena from NY, and the community is great. Above this though, the pastor faithfully preaches God’s word, and they make a great effort to explain and apply the Bible for our lives. This is the first church I’ve chosen to go to for myself since moving away from my parents, and I couldn’t be happier here! Each service biblically addresses a passage of scripture and how it applies to our lives, rather than the alternative picking-and-choosing scriptures that fit what we want to hear. I have been genuinely welcomed with smiles and meaningful conversations every Sunday, and grown in deep relationships with peers and mentors ever since my first time coming. I am so happy to call The Chapel at Pasadena not just my home church, but my home! I'm a single dad with two kids age 7 1/2 and 6. It took me a long time to find a church where my kids felt comfortable and enjoyed going AND where I had the community and solid teaching that I needed as well. When I heard that my friend of 17 years and my girlfriend just so happened to be going to the same small church in Pasadena, I had to check it out. I personally needed a church that was theologically solid, preaching from the text and not jumping around scripture to make people feel comfortable. I also needed a place that had transparent and authentic community where I could be imperfect and flawed and still feel like I fit in. This church fulfills both needs wonderfully. My kids also very quickly found friends there and often don't want to leave. It's the first church we've been to out of half a dozen where the kids are excited when I tell them it's a Sunday and we're going to church! As you can imagine from being a single father, I have a rough and messy past and that has never ever been a problem when connecting with people here. Even though it's a reformed, sola scriptura church, there is no judgment for those that come in with some scars and baggage. That's incredibly refreshing. Come visit the church this Sunday. It may just be the (imperfect but genuine) community you've needed for a long time. Very welcoming and loving church that teaches the gospel and tries to live it in everything they do. Being a part of this church has changed my life for the better. Love the openess and sincerity of fellow worshippers and pastor of this church. A Bible-focused message and strong emphasis on community groups to grow in our walk with the Lord.
