What visitors say
We were looking for a new church closer to home. We started coming here and they are welcoming, it feels like family and I am able to understand the word when the pastor is speaking about the word. They have rooms for your little ones to go to while you get to worship and hear from the Bible. Jesus loves us and you should turn to the Lord and walk with him. Come to this church while turning to and loving Jesus!!! This group operates more like a personality-driven movement or cult than a church. Their emphasis and near-worship on the pastor overshadows the teachings of and worship of Jesus. The community carries strong political messaging, with rhetoric that gets very extreme and is so overtly stated that I am surprised they are still tax-exempt. During the pandemic, they openly disregarded mask legal requirements, and the congregation experienced a high number of deaths. Rather than reexamining their practices, leadership placed blame on individual members. Fear-based messaging, extremism, and tolerance for troubling behavior within the group are recurring themes. For a long period, their website featured nothing but a donation request. That alone reflects their priorities. I am thankful to see this was finally changed. Visitors may find them welcoming at first, but over time the culture becomes controlling and dismissive. Acceptance within the community depends on compliance with leadership’s expectations, even in trivial matters. Those who do not conform risk being shunned or targeted. Other churches provide healthier environments without these issues. If leadership challenges this review, I am prepared to appeal and support it with evidence so it will remain. It is important that prospective visitors are aware of what they may encounter. Sincerely, A previous member for many years who is using an alternative account to protect those I knew before from being retaliated against for this review Pastor Raul teaches from the Bible verse by verse which is sadly rare these days. My family and I love attending this church and have grown in the Lord so much since we started attending. Refuge Bible Fellowship is my church home. I love the family atmosphere, the fellowship and caring people. Most of all I relish the word of God preaced through Pastor Raul. Excellent church. Great pastor, nice people. He teaches through the Bible in a way anyone can understand. They just had a Men's conference that had some solid teaching. Check it out if you are looking for a home church.
