I attended this church off and on for a few years, while my parents were active members of this church, as well. I applied to dedicate my son to the Lord at this church when he was about 8 months old. I had to make an appointment with the youth pastor and was on a waiting list for about a month or two. When it was finally time for our appointment, we arrived at the church offices, had to check in at the front desk (very corporate style), waited for the youth pastor, and went into his office where we were interviewed/ interrogated. Long story short, we were turned down. (Never knew that was even possible) The youth pastor said that he didn't think that we were ready to dedicate my child. (Side note: I have been going to church my entire life) He gave us his business card and told us we could call him in a few weeks if we had questions. This church never checked back in with us, never asked how they could support us, never asked if we were still interested, nothing. Nevertheless, we were able to find another church that welcomed us with open arms, they loved us, lead us, taught us, and offered support if needed. We dedicated our baby boy shortly after. It was beautiful. I contemplated on writing this review for some time, but decided this needed to be known. I was very disappointed in this negative experience by The Grove Community Church, and I have not been back since. (I am a Black-American for context) Visited for sunrise Easter service last week, and really enjoyed it! I live in HTX but was in the area for a wellness retreat. The church was about a mile walk away, which was super pleasant! I would definitely again if I were in the area! My host said she attends weekly midweek women's Bible study. Attended an event at their community center. Beautiful grounds, clean and welcoming. In the book of Luke 4:18-19 it talks about preaching the Gospel. This church needs to preach the gospel at every sermon so that Jesus Christ can save his people. I pray may the Lord bless this church and put it in their hearts to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ. What happens if a person goes to this church and they're not preaching the Gospel then the next day that person takes their life? PREACH GOD, PREACH JESUS. Visited from out of town for Easter and really enjoyed it! Seems like the people are very friendly and the pastor preached in a way that was easy to understand and keep me engaged. Its a big church but seems like when you get plugged in you'll find community there!
