What visitors say

We stayed for 2 nights to visit with relatives in the area. Normally, we would have booked with an Ayres Inn as they provide much value and quality. Thought we’d splurge for this visit and we were disappointed. Overall, the property is pretty with a lovely location. It’s within walking distance of most everything in San Juan Cap. But we thought the room was exceptionally small. It felt cramped and did NOT meet our expectations which aren’t unreasonable. The dark, dated furniture made it worse. And we found out at the last minute, there was a $55 mandatory valet parking fee?? If we had time, we would have cancelled and booked elsewhere. There’s no ability to park elsewhere so guests are held hostage, so to speak. Also, there’s a $45 daily destination fee. Again it was unexpected. We probably didn’t read the fine print somewhere. The staff were courteous and professional. But we felt the price of an almost $500 plus other fees per night room was way too much. We won’t stay there ever again. Beautiful location, easy walk to plenty of restaurants in cute SJC - right next to the Mission. Gorgeous architecture, circular driveway and entrance, large lobby and restaurant area with beautiful dark beams and intricate architectural details. I stayed for a nearby conference for work was there for 4 nights. The grand entrance and common areas got me excited to try out the elevated Autograph series for Marriott. The guy at check-in made a big deal of finding me a room that I'd be happy with for 4 nights. That actually continued my excitement. That ended quickly when I got to my 'special' room, which ended up being on the first floor overlooking an empty parking lot (which they charge a mandatory $55 per night for valet) right across from the gym. So I shut the curtains and got to wake up at 5am when the gym enthusiasts started to work out. Again the room inside was beautiful, small but adequate, with arched entries and old, dark wood accents. But I didn't want to open my window to remind me of the parking lot/ Bakersfield motel feel. And I couldn't tune out the noise of the gym door opening and closing. In the end, the actual rooms and (small) pool section of the hotel is not any better than a basic hotel/ motel. Not bad, but costs twice a much. Glad I was offsite working all day. We are local to the area and always wanted to check out this hotel because it looks so beautiful and is in walking distance to all of the great shops and restaurants in SJC. We just stayed there to celebrate my birthday and had the very best time. The room is decorated so nicely with a lot of attention to detail and style. The lobby and pool area are super pretty. But most importantly, the staff made our stay extra special. Daniel and Kevin were so friendly and took great care of my car and our luggage. They were such a warm and cool welcome to the property. Nick at the front desk went above and beyond. We were upgraded to a beautiful room, and he knew it was my birthday and after dinner, our room had balloons, gourmet snacks and chocolate with the sweetest personalized birthday note from Nick and the rest of the staff. It was over the top kind. And then my daughter accidentally left a phone charger and expensive retainers in the room and Nick immediately went to go check and called me back to let me know he found the items and was keeping them safe for me to pick up. It doesn’t get better than that for customer service! It was just one night but so special and we will for sure return. We had a wonderful stay at this hotel yesterday—truly the cleanest hotel I’ve ever experienced. Everything was spotless and well-maintained, which made our stay incredibly comfortable. The staff were all friendly, professional, and welcoming, creating a great overall experience from start to finish. Although the hotel is petite, it thoughtfully offers everything we needed. The fitness center was impressive—very clean and equipped with the newest workout machines. We also appreciated the $25 credit, which we used for coffee and breakfast at the hotel café. The coffee was excellent and a perfect way to start the day. Overall, we had a fantastic time and really enjoyed the vibe of the hotel. We will definitely be coming back! We hail from San Diego and are returning for our second stay here. This time, we’re celebrating my wife’s birthday, and we’ve chosen to make it a memorable occasion. A special shoutout to the front desk clerk, William. His exceptional customer service is truly commendable, and the overall experience at this establishment is nothing short of stellar. Given our Southern California roots, this place has become our go-to vacation destination, or as we like to call it, our staycation spot. Thank you Marriott !!
