Very good location, with ample parking, inside the beautiful place for XV party decoration, simply the best option. I shot a quick drone video on my YouTube channel here (Sebastian's Script), and it was beautiful. Only giving 4 stars bc I didn't go inside, otherwise I am certain it would be 5. Calming energy. A very beautiful church, this festival was one of my favorites. The people were so welcoming and warm, the food was exceptional. I really enjoyed myself and tried so hard to go again on Sunday. I will definitely return for future events. Beautiful church! The sanctuary itself is stunning, but what really surprised me was the huge event hall attached that is available for rental. It can be dressed up for just about anything weddings, receptions, banquets. I’m not Serbian Orthodox, but I had the good fortune to attend an event here, and it was wonderful. There’s a spacious cocktail area, a seriously impressive bar, and a large kitchen equipped with stoves and refrigeration that can handle a crowd. You can tell the space was designed with community gatherings in mind. And speaking of gatherings the annual Serbian Festival in the fall is a can’t-miss. The food is incredible. You can literally smell it as you drive up the hill. Grilled meats, savory pastries, and desserts you’ll dream about afterward. If you’re looking for authentic hospitality and food that makes you close your eyes in happiness, this is the place. Now, to address the head-scratchers who left negative reviews because they were upset it’s private property: It’s a church, not a public park. Religious sites across the country have had to increase security for obvious reasons, and St. Petka is no exception. Expecting to wander in uninvited for a picnic is like walking into someone’s backyard BBQ and demanding a plate you’ll just look silly. This is a community of faith, and their grounds are for worshippers and invited guests. Respect that, and when you are invited in, you’ll find a warm, welcoming community that knows how to celebrate. If you’re lucky enough to attend an event here, enjoy it’s a gem. My family moved down from the Bay Area to Oceanside a few years ago and we desperately needed to find an Eastern Orthodox church for worship and fellowship. After visiting and attending services at numerous area churches we had decided St. Petka in San Marcos met and exceeded all religious needs. The priest Father Milovan is very nice and follows the tradition of the Eastern Orthodox faith and services. The people are friendly and there is fellowship and lunch after the services in the kitchen hall. The food is highly rated and bountiful for all. There is a mix of parishioners Serbians, Russians, Greeks, Ukrainians, and other nationalities. All very respectful of each other and very friendly. My family have found a home in this beautiful cathedral style church and large kitchen and banquet hall facilities. The large banquet hall can be rented and has a large kitchen, a stage, and many banquet style tables which is perfect for a wedding or any celebration. I highly recommend this beautiful church for all who are seeking to find a new place of worship in the Eastern Orthodox religion.
