What visitors say
I church-hopped for a year before landing at Risen Church Westside. I've now been there for four years! The people here genuinely love Jesus, and its reflected in the way they love and serve their community. It's on the smaller side, which for me has been refreshing when living in a city that's so big. It's easy to get involved here (community groups, serving, etc.) if that's something you're looking for. Regardless, if you're looking for a place to belong, you're welcome here! The people here are incredibly warm, welcoming and genuinely like to do life together. It's a great non-denominational church for families, single people, and everyone in-between. The pastors do a great job of preaching the gospel each week and there is a lot of importance placed on attending community groups during the week. Parking on Sunday mornings can be tricky, but there are typically some visitor spots or street parking in the neighborhood available. If you come for a visit, expect a handshake or a hug, and stick around for donuts after! Within the past couple of years the younger aged group at Risen Church merged with the established slightly older group of Jesus Lovers at Westside Church to create what now is Risen Westside Church in Santa Monica. The church is on the smaller side, but recently add 2 services to their Sunday! After going to huge churches in Los Angeles, I never had a sense of community. At Risen you will quickly be greeted by caring people who truly want to get to know you, help you, and get you involved if you wish to! EVERYONE is welcome here. P.S. If you are from Texas...this is the church for you. haha A solid worshipping community, that loves God and others as Christ commanded: The Gospel lived out. Sunday services offer solid biblical preaching, creative children’s ministries, and singing that combines hymns and contemporary worship all-of-which spur living out Christ centered lives during the week. I am so grateful for this church family! From the minute I stepped in the doors I was welcomed. They teach from scripture and truly strive to bring God’s kingdom to LA. There’s a 90% chance someone will invite you to Bondi Harvest before or after service.
