My friends go to this church, they like it, it's a beautiful building. I love architecture. My husband and I just moved to the downtown Orlando area and have been wanting to find a new church. We went this past Sunday and we are so happy that we did! Everyone was so sweet and welcoming! We waited to meet the pastors at the end of service and met Pastor Brandon. He was so kind and willing to listen to us and get to know us. We are excited to call Downtown Baptist Orlando Church our home 😊 excellent bible based church!!! Perfect place for a new christian to start fresh in the downtown area. Been attending for 3 weeks now. I love the Sunday School fellowship before service and the Music is awesome. I can't wait till they form a choir some day. Marty is very talented on the Organ. I love the prelude and postlude music. A very moving church with alot of growing going on. A staff member kicked me and two homeless friends off the premises at 5am this morning. We weren't causing any trouble or making a mess. We just needed a safe place to sleep because Orlando is very very dangerous at night. And I'm from Chicago so that says a lot! My friends waited 5 minutes for me to return from the local restroom so the staff member called the police on us threatening trepass. Nice Christians. These folks are obviously here to cater to the rich and get the pastor his new BMW. Growing up my mother always told me that church was a "sanctuary". I guess the spirit of sanctuary passed this church over. I have 3 interviews this week in effort to get back to good, and I have to sleep in the ghetto while this enormous building lies empty. And they won't even let me sleep on the sidewalk in front. Define "greed" As a Christian, this church makes me so sad. The way this church treats the homeless is just wrong. The homeless were given a guaranteed spot to sleep on the porch of Downtown Baptist(while they had spare buildings to accommodate for shelter if they wanted to) if they were registered with the church by giving their social security number. Their social security number brought in funding to the church that was never used for the homeless. It's as if this church prostitutes the homeless, in their own community, to line their own pockets. In order to eat or get a shower (only once a week) from Downtown Baptist, it was mandatory that the homeless attend their church service, however, the homeless were purposely segregated to their own homeless section, as if on display. During one service that a personal friend of mine was forced to attend just to eat and shower, the minister was speaking of how they were going to repaint the inside alter area. There was nothing wrong with the original paint job. The minister bragged about how he was going to spend $25,000 to hire a company in order to unnecessarily repaint. Meanwhile, a whole group of homeless were sitting there wanting to work. Something needs to be done about this, and the word needs to be spread. The sad thing is that this is not the only church doing this. As a Christian, please take a look at yourself, and your own church. Are you being the hands and feet that God asks you to be? Search your heart, and help the helpless.
