The church is beautiful inside, and out. There was a HUGE lack of diversity, and I was not a fan of the pastor being on a video verses actually bringing the word in person. FYI: There was a coffee area, but there were no cups or lids, and the only option that they had for creamer was half and half (I’m lactose intolerant). I did love the coziness of the sanctuary, and all of the lights and screens. It gave a concert vibe to the sanctuary which I enjoyed. The parking was tight we (my husband and I) had to park at crunch fitness, and walk over. Guest services greeted us at the door, but once inside the church no one else spoke to us or really acknowledged us. There was little to no conversation from that point on. Also praise and worship was good no one seemed to be engaging in worship they were mostly just standing, and watching the praise team on the stage. I guess I’m use to more interactions, and movement during praise and worship. So I felt out of place. Athens Church is absolutely incredible. This is one of those rare places where you immediately feel welcomed, not judged. The mission, vision, and values are clear in everything they do: love people well, create a place of belonging, and help people reconnect with what matters most. For me, Athens Church has become a peaceful refuge from the noise and chaos of the world. Every week, I leave encouraged, calmer, and more grounded. The messages are thoughtful and practical, the people are genuinely kind, and the whole environment feels full of grace. If you are looking for a church, curious about faith, or just need a place where you can breathe and feel welcomed, go to Athens Church. It is a gift to this community. This church has been an incredible place to serve and grow. The environment is welcoming, uplifting, and full of people who genuinely care about one another. Working with the middle school and high school students has been such a rewarding experience because there is a strong sense of community and support throughout the entire church. The leaders are intentional, the students are engaged, and everyone is encouraged to grow in their faith together. If you’re looking for a church with a great atmosphere, authentic relationships, and a heart for the next generation, I highly recommend it! Been with Athens Church ever since relocating from Dallas, TX. It’s been a wonderful church home for 5 years now. Our kids enjoy it very much as well. Bible based sermons always, but always relevant to today’s world and challenges. Never preachy, but very direct in how we are commanded to live our lives. Even when the topic isn’t easy, they always have a way of bringing an approachable message for everyone. Three of my kids have been baptized since joining here as well. We started at the Atlanta Hwy location, before Beechwood opened, and we hopped in since it’s started about a year and half ago. Highly recommended! We joined Athens Church shortly after moving back to Athens and have been so thankful for the community that we have found. Our children adore going to Waumba Land and look forward to each Sunday! The leadership truly cares about each and every person there and it is evident through their words and actions. Highly recommend if you are looking for a church home!
