What visitors say

The most spirit filled church I’ve ever had the wonderful chance of visiting. Holy Spirit led my family to this church through their ministering and now our family considers this our home! We love Riverstone and here’s why: -Missions oriented church. They partner with churches all over the world and send out missionaries quite often to evangelize and share the gospel. - Foster friendly church. There are many foster & adopted families that attend the church. The church has a series about adoption and foster programs and invites the congregation to help support or become foster parents and ties that in to how we are adopted into Christs family. They also open up the church as a safe place for fostered children to meet up with their birth parents during visitations. -Children’s program is amazing. Ms. Becky the children’s pastor is on fire for the Lord and really loves and teaches the children biblical truths at their level. From the front desk greeters to the volunteers and staff you can sense they are all excited about the children being there and learning about the Lord. - Very friendly church! I remember the first time I visited for a women’s worship program, people greeted me like they already knew me. I didn’t feel awkward being there. Everyone was very genuine and happy for me to be there. - There are four pastors that preach in the main church. Tom, Sam, Savannah, Matt, and Becky. Tom-Sr. Pastor Sam- Pastor Savannah- Missions Pastor Matt- Youth Pastor I love that they all have very different styles of preaching and teaching which can help bring out different aspects of the word. Tom’s style is full of wisdom and story telling that ties into scripture beautifully. Sam’s style feels scholastic and bookish in a good way. Students of the word like myself will really enjoy his style. He presents with PowerPoint slides and usually ends with thoughtful questions of reflections to rhetorically digest throughout your upcoming week. Savannah’s preaching style feels like she’s shooting from the hip, again in a good way, I know she is well prepared. She gets on stage and her tone is as if she’s talking to a friend. Matt’s style is a mixture between Tom and Savannah’s and I really enjoy hearing a word from him. Every time I think I have a favorite to hear preach, it quickly changes. I don’t even attempt to compare anymore because they’re all Holy Spirit filled pastors that genuinely love the Lord and present his word and truths in powerful thought provoking messages. -There are also several Elders that I believe are in a three year cycle. My husband and I really liked that there is so much leadership, we believe it helps to hold one another accountable. I also like that the Elders are cycled. I believe it allows fresh perspective about whatever they deal with on their back end. -There are also many outreach ministries such as the local college outreach program and Thursday Healing Night of prayer. The church opens their doors once a month on Thursday evenings to the community for whomever needs prayer or for people who want a believer to help them pray for a family or friend. There is live soaking music when you enter the sanctuary and you wait on your number to be called. While you wait, there are in the sanctuary to pray over you. They will come behind you and just put their hands on your should and whisper prayers over you. It’s the most beautiful thing to experience. If you chose a number when you walked in, it will be called and then you’ll transition to another section of the church to meet a prayer team that will prayer with you or for you. Also, on Sunday service there are a host of prayer teams that come to the front to pray over and with people. -A husband/wife duo lead the worship team. There are no words to express the song in worship here, but I’ll try: I feel like I’m in heaven before the throne of God glorifying HIM in song and dance with my brothers and sisters. I hope this note helps someone to make an informed decision when choosing a church to visit and/or lay roots. See you at Riverstone! Great church! Great folks! Make you feel comfortable. Need a church home Riverstone might be the place for you! I was looking for exactly what I receive Prayer, Worship, Teach the Bible, and Missions to the community and abroad. The small groups really has helped me be more open and my learning curve is a lot more tolerable. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming and FULL of the Holy Spirit. As long as you come in with an OPEN HEART to RECEIVE YOU will DEFINITELY get what you pray for. My wife and are from San Diego and a lot of our circles of faith are from the Jesus movement, Awaken the Dawn, and Bethel Church in Redding. Since moving to Atlanta, it’s been hard to find communities that let go. We missed being around communities where generations were together (older, younger, babies). For me, what makes a place desirable is having my elders around me, those who walk in the spirit and walk in wisdom. Riverstone brings us back to our communities on the West Coast and we couldn’t be more grateful to find this place after a lot of searching in Atlanta. Location is excellent + I felt very warm and welcomed + Pastor connects quite well + it was obvious the staff works hard and enjoys serving and helping people get closer to the Lord!
