We defected from another church during the covid days. The church we came from was more fire and brimstone and some of the sermons were political in nature. Seeking a change, we stumbled upon West Suburban church through a friend. And it was one of the best changes we made. How is this church better? Let me count the ways… 1) One of the best bands I’ve heard in any church. The songs are uplifting and also teach a good message. 2) The sermon avoids fire and brimstone and instead, teaches the Way through parables and stories which are kid friendly. 3) Kids rooms downstairs. The church offers classes for kids which is great for homeschooling parents like us. 4) Warm crowd. You could not show up for a few weeks and step right back into the church as if nothing changed. Zero judgements. Tucked into a quiet neighborhood on the north side of Elmhurst near Marianos, the church is easy to get to from I-290 and York road. There is a free parking lot with over 20 spaces as well as free street parking. If you’re looking for a church with a warm energy, I highly recommend. West Sub has been my church home for 6 years. When I first started coming to West Sub, I was warmly greeted by people I did not know. Everyone was so welcoming. They are now my church family. Pastor Jim is a wonderful leader and teacher of the Bible and always makes himself available to the members of our congregation and community. If you are looking for a Bible Study, the women’s Bible Study is the best I have ever gone to. This is a church where you will be accepted and loved. When I first moved to Elmhurst 10 years ago I attended several of the area churches looking for a church home with solid Biblical teaching, welcoming atmosphere, and opportunities to be involved in various ministries. I found all of these things in West Sub and have been blessed to be apart of this community of believers for the past 10 years. A little about the church: Pastor Jim Lennon is an amazing teacher of God's word. His sermons dig deep into the "meat" of the Bible. The worship time is a balance of traditional hymns and contemporary worship songs that you would hear on a Christian radio station. And the songs are accompanied by a variety of instruments including but not limited to brass, strings, drums, and guitar. There are a multitude of opportunities to get involved and plugged in. There is Sunday school for children and adults. There is a men's and women's Bible study as well as youth and children groups on week nights. There are also community groups that meet monthly. I looked for a church for over a year. I chose West Sub because of its solid Biblical preaching and the friendliness of the people. Anyone who attends will be blessed by the sermon, music and love of those who attend. We aren't perfect but are grateful for God's grace which we have all received in Christ. I have been going to this church my whole life. Now as a wife and mother I'm thrilled to be attending a church where the bible is preached. The pastoral staff is amazing. Our weekly childrens ministry is run by people who love Jesus. Tonight's kids program exceeded my high expectations. An elder at our church was teaching the kids about serving others. He demonstrated this by washing the childrens' feet. I'm blessed to call myself a member of West Sub!
