I have been a First Cary United Methodist Church member for 4 years now and love it. This place is ALIVE with kind, giving people, and everyone is welcome. Zero pretense or judgment, and no hard sell. Sermons focus on linking today's life to God's word. It strives to connect among members and with the Cary community. Knowledgeable and approachable pastors and support staff. Traditional and contemporary services. Complete children's and youth programs and activities; an active Young Adults group; and bible study and fellowship groups. Lots of volunteer opportunities to help the community. I joined several Habitat for Humanity builds with church members; a monthly food distribution effort; English as a Second Language and Read and Feed programs; Grief group; Easter baskets and Christmas presents for those in need, and more. Participate in church life as your time and desire allows. This is your personal invitation. Come visit and experience it for yourself. I look forward to seeing you. My entire family has deep roots in the Methodist Church, all the way back to the 1700's. I met Laurie when I first arrived at the church. I told her that I was hungry and that I had been sleeping in my truck and was desperate. She told me that she couldn't give me permission to sleep in my truck in the church parking lot, but that she also couldn't say no. I didn't know what to say or do after that. So I left. I don't know what Jesus would do. But that's what I did. I didn't feel welcome at all. I held back tears as best I could. I'm still homeless. Would not recommend if you are looking for a Church and I would recommend leaving if you attend here. There are so many options and I would pass on this one. I grew up in this Church and my Father and his Father were members. The current leadership is far from responsive to members. I once led a Bible class here, but sadly the Church is not the same Church it once was. I am glad I left and took my family to a Church that follows the Bible. First United Methodist Church is located at 117 S Academy St, Cary, NC 27511. We visited United Methodist Church on Saturday afternoon but it was closed and not open to public. Could see the holey place from the outside only. Just opposite is located another beautiful First Baptist Church. Its location is prime and it is situated near Downtown Park, Cary Community Library and Cary Arts Center. United Methodist Church is beautifully constructed, its design is awesome and attractive. It look small but get attention of everyone passing through Care Down Town. May God bless this beautiful Church. I visited for the Martin Luther King Jr Sunday 20024 dinner and interactive activity. I enjoyed the presentation and history awearness feature. Everyone appeared to participate with enthusiasm. It was refreshing to discuss a history that I could relate to, that has been my own life.
