What visitors say
We have attended this church a few times, but our recent experience left us deeply disappointed in how they view young families. During a service, our 13-month-old son was making normal toddler noises (not screaming). A staff member approached me and explicitly asked me to step out to calm him down. When I reached out privately to express that a one-year-old cannot control their noises and that young families need grace and patience, the leadership's response was defensive. They essentially explained that children are a biological distraction to others and validated asking us to leave to maintain a "distraction-free" environment. Additionally, the preaching felt heavily focused on historical and opinionated topics (specifically a heavy focus on 1776/Man) rather than centering on Scripture and God. If you are a young family looking for a place of grace, patience, and a deep focus on the Word, you may want to look elsewhere. They prioritize Sunday morning production over welcoming the next generation. Freedom house is a non denominational church. I started coming here a little over a year ago and immediately got plugged in into a couple life groups - bible study, pickleball, lake and pool "party" gatherings. I enjoy the teaching team concept - having a live communicator at every campus. The pastors/speakers are real people with real problems who guide/ teach/ set higher standards for good living and giving back to the community. Each month is focused on a specific theme connecting Bible teachings and modern day application. FH's huge focus is on strengthening family unit and cultivating community support. This cause is very close to my heart and is precisely what keeps me coming back. I have grown/matured tremendously spiritually thru and with profound messages they highlighted/discussed. FH offeres complimentary child care during services. The worship music team is outstanding - they do a great job creating environment to open your heart and mind to hearing God's word in a new way. The church also offers the Authentic Woman and Strong Man groups for ladies and man respectively. It feels wonderful to be surrounded by strong successful woman (in my case) who serve as a real example of kindness, warmth while working thru struggles and pouring their energy into their family. FH is patriotic and politically outspoken church community. If you like to keep politics and church separately it may not be your cup of tea. Overall, it has been an incredibly positive experience. 100% recommend to see for yourself. Freedom House Church is deeply rooted in biblical truth, and they unapologetically stand to proclaim the gospel of Jesus and fight to protect our God given rights endowed by our Creator. This church is not scared to speak the truth in love. The Maxwells are amazing people that put the Word of God above people’s feelings. I am thankful for this beacon of light and truth in our community that shines the brightest. I recently just started attending after coming from Grace covenant. What I like about this church is I learn something new almost every time I visit. It's a growing church that building started as a gym originally so it's growing and improving in its journey but there are 2 more and soon to be one more out in other parts of Charlotte. Lead pastors the Maxwell's are informative, they care to talk about the hard conversations and what's going on in the world and how to walk it in truth. It's not just a "love" church it's a "I love you so I'm going to be honest with you even if it's not the things you necessarily want to hear." The other pastors are just as caring and informative and they are enthusiastic to have people approach them and be involved, your not just a number or a wallet at freedom house. (Kingdom building and tithing is important though) When you walk in those doors you are greeted with a smile, conversation, love and care. They Teach our children and I can say each Sunday I can ask my son what they talked about and to hear him tell me what he's learned is so important, my kids didn't always have that at previously attended places. I absolutely love this church They have a deep love for community and family, they encourage men to be men and set certain activities aside just for men to be involved. That's rare as many positions can easily be filled with the willing hearts of women. I can say from experience, they have a wonderful children's ministry and they believe children and youth are the generation of today and the church is not afraid to stand up for our children. And right now I'm in a women's life group that does life together. And we study the actual word of God. And we pray for one another and encourage each other in our faith as the Word instructs us to do. I've definitely grown in my spiritual relationship with the Lord since being a part of this church.
