Pastor John teaches verse by verse and the worship team is amazing. My daughter attends Firm Foundation and they do an excellent job at filling the children with the word of God. Excellent place of worship and Pastor is an excellent teacher of the Bible. Going from cover to cover, verse by verse. Applying research of culture and historical facts. Allowing for alter calls, vacation Bible studies, Wednesday midweek Bible study and Tuesday prayer meeting. Pastor John is very friendly and approachable greeting everyone as they leave the church service. Pastor John, Today you taught out of Hebrews 10. Everything you teach sounds nice. We need to care about each other. We need to see each other as family. We need to help one another. We need not shrink back but stay involved. Pastor John sadly this is not getting to the congregation. We have been involved in a group and a ministry. We have been transparent about our situation. No one has called us, no one has reached out no one has even called to pray for us. What we have noticed is if you dont come into the church well established then no one really wants you around. If you are not able bodied no one really cares for you. If you are not middle class or higher no one really cares. Sadly we have belonged to several groups and we find the same issue people dont want to know your problems they just don't care. For some reason your words are not penetrating to the body. Please do something, these non actions by people are not what you teach or what is in the bible. Yet it is what is going on in this church. Example Koinania people want to sit with their friends, they can careless if people are sitting alone. The 55+ people look for certain tables where they know the people for the past ten years. I've personally ran across trying to make friends with someone and the person told me they had to pray to see if God wanted them to be my friend. I dont understand why are we like this if we are going to be in heaven together? Would Jesus act like this or allow it to go on? This is very sad. Yes the reply may be, well maybe this church is not for you . No this should not be going on in any church. Please do something. God Bless you. Biblically and Fruitfully a beautiful church. Spent two years with a year in one of the ministries. Warm, welcoming, strong faith, great leadership. John Knapp is one of the most well spoken and thorough teachers Ive ever had, he is also convicting and compelling, he clearly speaks by the Spirit according the Word. If you have a family and you are inclined towards Evangelical tradition, I highly suggest this church; however, if you hunger to go deeper, you better fit their mold. Alas, Calvary, like anyone else, is a strict denomination whether they admit it or not. This is not a bad thing. It is wonderful to go to a church that has such an uplifting and inspiring atmosphere. It is very warm and welcoming. The services fill up, so the ushers do a great job seating everyone. If you were to go to a service for the first time or alone, you would not feel out of place or isolated. They have a place to donate, but donations are not taken during service. There is an active childrens and teenagers Sunday School/Service, which is in a separate building, but close by. Pastor John always gives an excellent sermon. He closely follows the bible, but he gives very clear explanations and examples, He is a skillful, engaging and genuine speaker. Finally, the music is outstanding. The singers and musicians are incredibly talented. If you are considering a new spiritual home, this church is well worth a visit.
