What visitors say
Don’t go. The “inconvenience” of having to wait your turn after coming to the event early then having your numbered color be last to be called is painfully tedious and aggravating as well as irritating. Then you eventually get called and what is before you are pathetically sad looking rejects and Oh yeah , you can only have 1 lousy smelly fly infested food of your choice from the leftovers. On top of that are annoyed and tired volunteers or workers who are upset of the fact you even exist and that you’re there. Thanks for the effort folks … But no thanks. There won’t be a next time around. I refuse to subject myself to that type of treatment … I rather starve to death. I won’t dare recommend or advise the needy to patronize that “system”. It’s absolutely ridiculously unfair. Those food are meant for us. The volunteers/workers stashed their goodies first before the needy. The one only per table is insulting. The flies in the supposedly frozen food are disgusting! The attitude of the volunteers/workers need adjustments. Please stop that ! Do it right or don’t do it at all. The people who just arrived got their food first while the ones that came early got to wait forever and got crap. Bless you anyway for “trying” to help. There’s got to be a better way than that way. I never got so humiliated, degraded and insulted as I did there.God be with you. Peace. Worker named Kim is extremely rude and always accuses me and my family of not showing up to church when we were there last Sunday. They also make us stand in the sun and heat all day It's too bad I can't give this place a zero, so I guess one star will have too do. My husband and I moved here about 5 months ago, he is disabled,( just got approved after 5 years of fighting for disability), and we are both over fifty. We are kind of going through a rough patch....so we have gone to about 3 churches so far since we have moved. My husband goes to this church today, thinking we just need a little bit of help for a few more days, because we have some funds coming in soon. My husband shows up to this church about a half hour before they were going to stop taking people and shut down. When he 1st gets there he is trying to find out where the line is, nobody would tell him where the line was... He finally finds the line, while he is in line he sees a truck pull up and hears the pastor talking about how he went and got food so there is plenty for everyone . Before my husband gets in to where the food is there was an announcement about how this was " 2 meat Tuesday", so my husband is thinking that's nice maybe we can get a little bit more, but we are blessed with whatever we get. Anyway..When he gets in everyone was very rude...as far as all of the Volunteers that were there helping, one of them even slapped my husband's hand!!! So get this!!. So one of the volunteers tells my husband you can get one thing here, and one thing there, and so on. So my husband goes to the section where there is the meat, the guy there says is there anything you want? , and my husband sees a nice pack of meat behind the guy, he tells the guy I will take that if you don't mind, the guy tells him" that's mine". So my husband says do you have any pork chops, the guy starts digging in the packs of meat...he was almost down so far into the meat that it was almost up to his upper arm/shoulder area ....he pulls out a pack of thin chops and gives it to him....my husband asks him isn't this 2 meat Tuesday? And he was told that he only gets one item and that a lot of that was for them. Then he goes around the corner to pick something else out...and one of the Volunteers says very rude to him you can only get one... So my husband starts picking up and looking at a couple of things, some lady slaps his hand and tells him...only one. He tells her I was just looking to pick out something. Then he starts talking to a lady that was behind him in a wheelchair when a volunteer comes up and rudely tells her that it was not wheelchair accessible. So my husband says I have 2 boxes I can give her one and I will go in and get her food. The guy says thanks now I can't do my job. My husband and the lady look at each other , and she says did he just really say that to you,? My husband says yes. Then one volunteer says " you with her", and he says I am just trying to help, so then the guy goes this is not wheelchair accessible so I will pull your chair , so when you get over here stand up.....not...can you stand up? So she goes to stand up and the guy moved her chair fast, so she almost fell, then when he was putting the chair behind her he did it so fast that he almost made her legs buckle. You people don't know my husband or myself, we have worked very physical jobs our whole life, we are some of the kindest people I know, my husband even used to coach boxing for over 25 years to help keep kids off of the streets, out of trouble and gangs. I was even thinking about checking out this church, but I have a hard time with over privileged, self centered , judgemental people of God anyway. But I will tell you this these are the Rudest people that we have met so far in this state. So I guess I will just say, Thank you God for the food. And to the church - Judge not , les you be Judged. Thank you for your time. They have an unbelievable food pantry that offers great quality foods and various dietary selections including Vegan, vegetarian. Plus many more. Everyone is so nice and has a positive outlook. They are always very helpful and knowledgeable We appreciate all the kindness and compassion that we have experiencessd Look at the Church's website for all upcoming events. This was our first and last visit to this pantry. Soon after arriving at Dream Center an announcement was made by one of the ministers that we should help ourselves to the can good. What DCLV left out of the announcement was that ALL of the can goods had expired over a year ago. January of 2024 to be exact. That was just the beginning of a terrible experience. We were one of the first people to arrive. We were number 8 and 9 in line. However there math leaves nothing to be disred. We were particularly the last in line to enter their pantry. in 110 temperature. Not particularly good if you're 80+ . Now we enter a very dark room for the walk through pantry. Most of the fresh veggies weren't fresh period. I detected mold on a lot of the procedure especially the strawberries, grapes and various other berries. Pastries were way past their expiration date too. Once we got home I was able to check dates and to no surprise 90% of what I brought home was expired. We are seniors on fix incomes and rely on the safety of pantries to help with food. We trusted that this service was safe and the surroundings are well lite. The lack of lighting at this location speaks to the fact that dates and mold were a distracted to the naked eye especially for seniors and the dozens of Hispanic people that were in line with us. This highly insulting to us and others.
