A few years ago, I was ready to give up on church. I went to Gather as a last ditch effort. Two things they said stuck out to me: 1) “We believe our beliefs are never more important than the person right in front of us.” 2) “God’s never needed to change his mind about us, but maybe we need to change our minds about God.” I’ve kept going and it’s been a safe place for me to heal from religious trauma. And the best part - make some new friends 😊 I almost gave up on Church. If it weren’t for Gather, I would have. A lot of churches say “all are welcome.” Gather means it. I’ve never been in a Christian environment where hard questions are welcomed and the response is often “I don’t know, let’s figure it out together.” This kind of conversation can only happen where there’s psychosocial safety, and Gather truly provides that. I wish we lived closer and could attend Gather Houston regularly. It’s so hard today to find church communities that truly live out the gospel in action and see the divinity in all humans, and Gather Houston does just that. A welcoming place to share God’s love with all. The most amazing, welcoming, safe, Jesus centered space with an incredible pastor and community. Josh is an incredible pastor that holds Jesus at the center of his teachings and genuinely strives to live and teach a Christ like life. I moved out of state about 3 years ago, and I still think about and miss Gather every single Sunday. That’s how impactful this space is. If you want to learn how to live a truly Christ like, Jesus centered life, surrounded by loving people striving for that as well, this is the place to go. I’ve been going to Gather for about two years and absolutely love everything about it! The teachings are thoughtful, grounded in Scripture, and always focused on what really matters: loving God and loving others. I consistently walk away feeling encouraged, challenged, and more connected to my faith! I’m so grateful to be part of a church that truly reflects the heart of Jesus. If you're looking for a church home where grace, love, and inclusion are more than just words—this is it!!
