The First Christian Church Katy hosts one of the biggest pumpkin patches in the region. The arrangement was vibrant and perfect for taking pictures. They offer a broad selection of pumpkins in various kinds and sizes for sale, with the proceeds supporting farmers from Native American reservations in New Mexico as well as the Katy community. This will be an annual visit for us. The community is friendly and welcoming and creates space to feel safe to worship and express oneself. The pastor is warm and attentive to her flock. I have enjoyed coming here for fellowship, worship and extracurricular activities. The only reviews I leave on Google are positive ones hoping to encourage others, so this is difficult for me... I drive by this church a few times a week and my heart aches. I believe the leaders of the congregation want to create an inclusive atmosphere, but they are doing more harm than good. Scripture makes clear to us that God made both men and women in His image. "So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them." Genesis 1:27 He didn't make a mistake when He made you a man or woman. The Bible tells us in Psalm 139:14 that you are wonderfully made. God's Word also tells us how homosexuality of any kind is a sin and an unclean spirit. It enters a person through trauma or as a familial spirit. If anyone is claiming to be a Christian church, but they do not follow what the Bible instructs then they are just a building with a sign. Leviticus 18:22 Leviticus 20:13 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 Romans 1:26-27 Jude 1:7 1 Timothy 1:10 and so many more verses We all struggle with our past. We all struggle with sin. You are not alone. The problem is when we start calling good evil and evil good. When we start contorting the Bible to say what we want or what makes us comfortable, we avoid the growth that needs to happen to heal. Jesus loves you and wants a personal relationship with you. I know you are hurting, I know you are confused and I know you feel like an outcast. Ask Jesus to come into your heart, wash you clean of all sin, give you a new heart and to begin your healing. Your desire to be a part of a church family is beautiful, healthy and it's only the beginning of your journey. Find one that aligns with the truth that the Holy Spirit wants to speak into your life. May God convict the congregation of First Christian, so that they once again turn back to Him. If you want to truly experience the love of God, check this place out. It's one of the few churches I've been to that had representatives of every age, sex, gender, race, or sexuality. They actually have fun in their worship, which many other churches could learn from. Finally, a church that truly cares less about who you are on the outside and focuses instead on cultivating the light you already carry within. Genuine honesty, zero hypocrisy. Come as you are actually means something here. In the end, Jesus is our judge — not imperfect humans.
