I gained more out of 1 service than I did in 6 months at my home church/parish up here in Green Bay, WI. Jude 1: 17-23! The pastor, a young guy early 40’s. Spoke with passion, conviction, and from his heart and soul. He shared the letters from his wife over a summer apart. His daughter was a 3rd grad graduate. I felt a sense of home! The volunteers greeted me with open arms, smiles…. I left that morning in TEARS OF JOY AND RELIEF! I felt a spiritual awakening that was overwhelming. My fiancée looked at me during the service, as did my father and step-mom. They saw it in my face! I wish I could experience this wonderful place EVERY SUNDAY, and participate in all of the resources they provide! I don’t really leave bad reviews. But today’s sermon was more like a business meeting instead of preaching the word of god. More like a recruiting meeting. I had brought someone who needed some saving they needed some preaching and you never know when you have 1 opportunity to preach the word of god and save someone’s life. But instead of preaching the word of god you want to lift your church up and try to recruit people. Its sad! Loved the praise and worship and the sermon. Staff was very welcoming and helpful. Will definitely be back. I applied for assistance I attended 528 location. Was very thankful for their help but the woman who I met with told me my kids have no business being in sports if I couldn’t afford it. I told her my kids got recruited for their teams so it was not cost to me. It’s important for me to keep my kids involved in sports. Let her know I am currently looking for a part time job because I will have to be able to pick up my son up at 3:30 everyday. She said I won’t find a job if I have to do that. I said I would take anything but it has to work around my kids schedules. Their dad is not in the picture nor pays child support. I was uncomfortable in the first place asking for help but it was my only option. I was embarrassed and ashamed to begin with. She called me the next day and told me they would take care of my phone bill but they wouldn’t take care of my daughters braces payment and that was totally fine and I was so grateful. Thanked her etc. but then she proceeded to criticize my parenting. She said my son shouldn’t be able to use my phone bc he is 5 and I do not allow him to use my phone. But he does take it without my permission sometimes. She said he seems to be “running the household”. Which is not true I do discipline my son but that was none of her business. Very intrusive assumptions and made me feel even more uncomfortable in an already extremely uncomfortable situation. I understand they want to make sure they aren’t giving money to drug users etc. but I am no where near close to that. I’m a single mom doing everything for my kids just having a hard time. I was belittled and disrespected multiple times. It seemed she wasn’t there to help but more so to judge me. Her name is Ruth. She was very insulting and has me questioning if I want to keep attending, maybe find somewhere else to go. I felt very offended I prayed about it and called to let someone know. They apologized but did not acknowledge her rude behavior towards me. I don’t like taking handouts iv worked since I was 16 and I’m doing my best. Just going through a rough spot. She made it clear they won’t be helping me again and that’s fine I am grateful for what they have helped with. This has nothing to do with financial help. This has everything to do with the way I was treated during this hard time. I hope no one who is truly in need gets treated like this because I know how it feels to be kicked while your down. I do appreciate them for keeping mine and my daughters phones on I just wish I was not criticized, belittled and disrespected multiple times. I’m a good person and very genuine. I help others any way I can and I didn’t deserve this. As much as I just want to move on unfortunately her comments hurt my confidence and over all made this whole terrible financial crisis I’m having worse mentally. I wish I would have never asked for the help. But unfortunately I had no other choice. So I took the mean comments about my parenting and insinuations that I’m not doing enough or I’m doing too much. Something I will never do again. I just thought it would be more helpful than judgmental. Which is what I thought church service was all about. I do love the sermons but it seems the judgment and belittling of my current unfortunate situation isn’t healthy for me. Do not attend a Wednesday service if you have any difficulties with loud noise. I visited for the first time and the music was blaring and physically made me hurt. Why? When the music is that loud you can’t even hear the voices of the congregation. God is having trouble hearing his people praise him when the music is so loud.
