What visitors say
My wife and I were moving across country to be closer to our grandchildren. We looked at 5-6 different developments across the valley and were really excited to see a church within walking distance from a house we were interested in. We decided to visit the next day before flying back East. We were met by a gentleman standing in front of the doors; who informed us Church wasn't meeting that day because the floors in the Gym were being resurfaced. We asked what seemed like 100 questions ranging anywhere from kids ministries to what the Church believes. We were coming from a Church back East that was very much a huge part of our lives and the local community and it was killing us to give that up; We didn't know if we would ever be able to find a replacement. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted and made to feel welcomed. Everyone was extremely friendly and glad to see us and have us visit. I was even shocked when the Pastor came over and introduced himself and stood there for a while and got to know us; He didn't just do a drive by... Glad you're here the offering box is over there; yadda yadda ya!! We visited the Church several more times over the next few weeks and even purchased our home based on the fact We felt like we found a new home Church! We LOVE the messages; they are centered around where you are in life and every week it seems like the Pastor is speaking directly to me. We have had several of our friends from back home who have come here to visit us and are amazed at how the message is presented and how involved the Church is in the community. The biggest thing we love about this Church is, we can come and worship just as we are!!! Made friends with a few families that went to this church but was shunned when I kept turning down their invites to services, events, the preschool etc. Some people aren't religious. Accept that!!! Shunned! No more park dates etc. Also, people who pull in and out of their park lot consistently pull out in front of folks. It's aggravating. If I were religious, I wouldnt go here. I’ve been attending this church about a year and half and absolutely love it here! I have churched hopped a lot over the last few years and finally feel at home here. So much so that me and my daughters got baptized and volunteer with kids church!!! I love how this church is community oriented and encourages growth! We have definitely made a lot of new friends and have a church family we belong to now! I recently started attending / participating in the weekly service at this church and I must say, everybody is LOVELY! This is a fantastic place to call home and anybody looking for a group of warm, friendly people to attend church with every Sunday should look no further. I came to this liberal church two weeks ago and this was my experience. MUST READ! 1. How is anybody supposed to know this is a "Christian" church? After all, the name of Christ isn't even put on the congregation.. That is like buying a new car, working night and day to pay it off, you get the title and it has somebody else's name on it. Jesus the Christ deserves to have his name upon HIS church. Don't you think? (Matthew 16:18) 2. I walk in and they're serving popcorn, snacks, drinks, etc.. Is this church, where we gather to worship our Lord and savior Jesus Christ or is this a block party? 3. There was a woman leading the musical group, which is a women participating in worship, which is a woman having authority over man. Which is not biblical according to (1 TIMOTHY 2:11-13) 4. The use of musical instruments during worship service, no biblical example in the New Testament giving us authority to do so in the church. 5. Whatever happened to the church having a dress code? I noticed a lot of women in short shorts, men in short shorts lol, and a lack of modesty overall. According to (1 TIMOTHY 2:9-10), women are to dress modestly, we ALL know what modesty looks like... Lets dress to meet Jesus, after all, he is there amongst us, right? 6. Preacher led the closing prayer, stopped mid prayer to keep preaching, kept on praying and DIDN'T end the prayer with "In the name of Jesus Christ, AMEN" soooo, how exactly was that prayer supposed to reach the Father if not through Jesus? (JOHN 14:6) 7. I noticed this church tailors more to entertaining the congregation rather than actually teaching and discerning. 8. Apparently they weren't doing the Lords supper that day because "The Pastor has it set up differently so its not just a tradition and more a memorial" OK? So are we just going to defy the biblical example in (ACTS 20:7) of doing it EVERY 1st day of the week? 9. The person leading the Offering, never gave an explanation as to WHY we need to give offering. All he said was "so we can keep doing what we're doing" OK? So its not for the SAINTS in need? (1 CORINTHIANS 16:1-2) 10. If there is one thing I did notice its the lack of hard copy Bibles in peoples hands. Either everybody has it memorized OR everybody is taking the preachers word. Study to show thyself approved unto God. If you are looking for a church that is ferociously jealous of Gods word, that protects and preserves doctrine, that doesn't deliberately disobey the instructions Jesus has left HIS church, then this is NOT the one you're looking for. The nearest church with these qualities is the GOODYEAR CHURCH OF CHRIST. (no, I am not sponsored or biased, its God word, not mine) God bless you all !
