What visitors say
"Open hearts, open minds and open doors" - the people of the United Methodist Church (current church wide slogan). Were a congregation who strives to live as Jesus commanded, LOVE others. John 13:34-35: "A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another." LGBTQ+ affirming. A safe non judgemental congregation. I was looking for a church to visit while on vacation, and I was definitely enticed by the fact that the Enchantment Under the Sea dance from Back to the Future was filmed here. While at the church, I was welcomed kindly and got to participate in worship with a Christ-loving community. I was especially delighted that I had stumbled upon the day of the church picnic and was invited to stay. Through the picnic, I met some wonderful parishioners who really showed me God in a way I didn't expect when I went into church that day. The church's history, theology, and values are listed on their website. (Reposted from my old account.) A Perfect Example Of A Pastor Destroying A Beautiful Faith Community It's sad what has happened to this church community. It was a thriving church with two campuses. The music was excellent. The leadership was excellent. Message... excellent. A real sense of family. The new pastor, Hannah Adair Bonner, has destroyed that. She has formal complaints against her by nearly 30 community members, a psychological evaluation has been requested, one campus has closed, the remaining campus is said to be in financial trouble and is losing members and staff. Community members and staff are complaining of chargeable offenses such as harassment, immorality, crime, racism, and discrimination, just to name a few. And the Bishop, Dottie Escobedo-Frank, spent months ignoring the complaints, letting the community fall apart at the hands of a person accused of numerous abuses. This didn't have to happen. It's all very sad. walking along Hollywood Star blvd, I was.attracted by this beautiful chuech, and the red ribbon is remarkable I attended the Memoral service for my friend, [Navy Veteran Richard Settle] in 2024. & it was beautiful and the members of the church were outstanding, & John West the music director was very kind to us veterans. Blessings from Andy Harland co-chairman of the Sal Guarriello veterans memorial park committee in West Hollywood ♥️.
