So I’ve been going to mariners for a long time I love going to Thursday night or young adults worship night. We usually go to the Irvine location, but we’re very close to the Huntington Beach location so I decided to start going there and giving it a try because they have started having Thursday nights. I’m a single mom and I’ve brought my son with me before and I know that technically he’s not allowed in service and they don’t have childcare on that day either but at least at the Irvine location they’re still welcoming and they have a outdoor worship area. I’ve never felt more unwelcome at any church more than this location. I’ve been to this Huntington Beach location several times I just signed up for a class there to help me with sobriety and I wanted to take my next step in my faith and start serving, but after what we went through tonight during service, they said something about us sitting in the middle or sitting up close because I had my son with me, we moved, and someone else came up to us while we were worshiping and told us to move further back. My son and I were just standing there worshiping he wasn’t disturbing anyone and I told them that I’m not wearing my glasses and I can’t see. And me and my son had already moved back a little bit and out of the center. We were just standing there worshiping, and another person came up to us and told us that we needed to move to the back and that kids aren’t allowed. I never felt more unwelcome at any church more than this one. As Christians, we are supposed to bring people closer to God and into the kingdom. I think it’s important that we raise kids within the faith and start them young, but instead they made me feel welcomed and pushed me away from God and now I don’t even want to go to the class or volunteer there after what happened—we just left after that. You never know what people are going through or what type of day they had. I was already emotionally overwhelmed today so after what happened I wasn’t really in the mood to worship anymore after being treated like that. Mariners itself is actually a really good church but if you do give it a try, I recommend the Irvine location or any other location besides this one. As Christians, we should be happy and welcome everyone and bring people close that our Christ not push them away. I was in praise and worship bands for 20 years or so at various churches. And we worked very hard to keep the worship focused on God and not on our performance. we should be perfuming not performing, perfuming the air with the incense of worship and praise. So what’s with all the Hollywood type search lights thing going on the stage? Looks like a movie premiere or something. A far cry from Sweet Hour of Prayer. My first time and it was wonderful. It was alive with happy music and an inspiring sermon. I agree with everyone's statements about this mega church. All they care about is making money. The Pastor in Irvine is so full of himself that he does every sermon and puts it on video so every mariners church has to watch him. He's not the only pastor each church has one but what is there role in anything. Also most importantly for a mega church they really don't help anybody physically or spiritually. We attended for over 5 years and when my daughter needed help they did help about 4 years ago. Now when she needs assistance she was told they only help once in a lifetime. Well thank you we won't need your help when we're in heaven. Jesus says help the poor and needy. Absolutely stay away from Mariners church they obviously do not believe in this. This church in HB has a unique ambiance of faithful, friendly people.
