The music program is outstanding, traditional, modern, moving and uplifting. Plenty of Ministries and diversified groups to join to satisfy your spiritual calling. UCH recently celebrated 150 in Hinsdale. In recent decades, I have been fortunate to take part in many of their prgrams: pre-school, choir, youth groups and confirmation, volunteer projects, seminars, workshops and ministry committees There is something special at Union Church for everyone. It's a very nice church building. I can't comment on their religious beliefs since I'm not familiar with their doctrine. They seem to support the arts (classic music) since Elmhurst Orchestra preformed there recently (not the whole orchestra but a portion). When I moved to Hinsdale a number of years ago I started attending another church. I found no community there. I tried one church after another, but did not feel at home. A friend, who went to Union Church recommended I go there. I felt welcome at Union Church immediately. Besides that, I found a church that is sincerely concerned about mission and social justice. I found a church that allows its members to question and grow in faith. I wanted so much to like the Union Church Early Childhood Program/Preschool. Unfortunately, the longer my child has attended, the less I like it. At this point, I completely regret sending my child there! I feel the teachers do not do a good job with even basic supervision and my child has picked up a number of bad habits. The classrooms looked cute at first but after a while I have realized the classrooms are tiny and have a lot of broken toys. My child has little to play with other than blocks, unsharpened pencils and an old broken-down toy kitchen. The management seemed equally poor to me. They/she was largely unresponsive to any requests and seems to manage on a checklist basis that ensures everything is quickly checked off but has made the whole experience feel empty and superficial I had high expectations for my child's preschool but this was such a disappointing experience to me! It's not even about the money that has been wasted. My child is completely missing out! For my next child, I will definitely look elsewhere, for a program that is high quality!
