I went to this church for 7 years. I was a small group leader there for several years. I was an elder on a church plant that this church sent out in 2019. I love and care for the people here, even the ones I do not know. I have people I count as dear friends there, including on staff. But I urge anyone considering going here to choose a different church. The leadership of this church insists on continuing to be part of something they call “the Network.” If you search the terms “Leaving the Network” you will find abundant resources describing its deep problems. These resources include information from former pastors in “the Network,” former elders, former deacons, and many others. Some of the resources directly relate to Clear River itself. You can no doubt find people here who are kind, faithful, and growing. I know some of them personally. You might find that here too, but you can also find it elsewhere and avoid some of the systemic problems that plague this church. Please, consider going somewhere else. I’ve been part of Clear River Church for almost 10 years now as I started attending while I was a student at Purdue. In that time Jesus saved me, I was baptized, God knit me into a wonderful community, I’ve grown and been changed, I met my wife, God blessed us with children, we’ve seen 4 churches planted, and God has been faithful in many more amazing ways. I’m so thankful for this church and for all the loving people God put in our life through it. Thank you God for Clear River Church. I was a member of this church for 8 years. On the surface, it seems like a Bible believing church, but there is so much hidden beneath the facade. This church is part of "The Network", and has a questionable history and some serious issues. Members have no power in voting on leadership or even knowing how money is spent. The church is located blocks from a homeless shelter and bus station and does nothing to help it's neighbors. Women are not allowed to lead small groups, serve on the leadership team, or preach. Please do your own research before you attend this church. There are plenty of other churches in Lafayette that are better than this one. I've attended church at Clear River for about 4 years now. The bible is preached during every meeting (Sunday mornings, small group meeting, service team meetings, etc), and it is taught in a way that is tangible and challenges you to grow in your relationship with the Lord and the people in your life. I've also really enjoyed serving in the Kid's Church! The kids have fun while being introduced to important biblical concepts and shown how they can apply those concepts in every day life. I have rarely met a church that is kind, compassionate, open, and patient once you get to know them. I wish people would be welcoming toward guests. Not that it's unwelcoming by any means, however it's easy to get lost and just look like a regular. The child care is pretty spectacular. Clear River's secret sauce are their small groups. My two very best friends attend CR and the proof is in the pudding. All of that said, Clear River is not my church and I don't think it's right for me. But they're great people with hearts in the right place and I know I can always return to open arms and compassionate hearts.
