What visitors say

My wife and I had been attending Southland for years starting in college and like most of its attendees enjoyed it. Somewhere along the line we found ourselves sitting with different people every Sunday and we started to feel like we were lacking a sense of community - something that we have been chasing ever since we got married. We left Southland and found a smaller church via some friends who also previously attended Southland, but still felt that the community aspect wasn't what we wanted. Fast forward to about 2 years ago, my wife woke up Sunday morning and said "I'm going to go try Eastland, I heard that they have a new pastor." When she got back from service, she said not only did the pastor spend time talking to her learning who she was and why her husband wasn't with her (we have 2 kids so I stayed back to tend to them), but also explained the vision of the church and what they believe in (something we never experienced within Southland or the other church we attended). I went to my first service with my wife and 2 children and after dropping off the kids in the nursery, which by the way was the most welcoming group of staff members I've ever come across, we quickly sat ourselves in the front row of the sanctuary. Needless to say, new folks in the front row is a big deal - we were promptly met with smiles, hand shakes, and "we're so happy you are here." What stood out to me most was that all the people that we interacted with were not pushy. I felt as though every comment made to us was genuine and the place just felt warm, like we were genuinely meant to attend church here. What we like most about Eastland: 1. Honest pastor - he tells it how it is, good or bad, and loves you regardless 2. Super cool staff - good mix of young/middle-aged/older folks regularly contributing either by volunteering or being on staff directly in various aspects. 3. The message is true to the word - no boiled down generic message. Pastor Jared gets straight to the point and does such a good job at making his message relatable every single week. Then he doubles down and brings back previous sermons to really put a bow on what it means to be a Christian in todays world. 4. My kids ENJOY going to church. They are 6 and 3 and it's not difficult to get them out the door in the mornings on Sunday - the Eastland staff do such a great job at making sure all the kids are having fun while also reinforcing core Christian values and beliefs. 5. We felt welcome as soon as we walked in the door; truly “Come as you are” community. We have come in tshirts and shorts, we have come in slacks and dresses, hair done or wet hair right out of the shower, heavy hearts and light hearts; struggling or content; seriously come as you are! 6. Members ask personal questions and follow-up with you at later dates - they don't forget the stories you share/hardships that you are going through. 7. While small, the congregation is starting to widen its age gap and grow (younger families showing up every week!) 8. The music is NOT a rock show - Lorie puts together wonderful arrangements every week that compliment Pastor Jared's sermon for that week. If you're looking for a smaller, dedicated, Christian family, please consider going to Eastland. Church doesn't feel like a chore to us anymore and we attribute that to the community that they have built over the past few years. We feel lucky to have found Eastland and love the direction and improvements that have been made over the last couple years. I have been coming to Eastland over 11 years now. I got engaged in the gym and have had all my kids dedicated here. What I love most are the people- we care about each other and live life together. My husband runs the Upward program and we love to help the community have a safe place to play basketball and share the love of Jesus. Come check us out at Eastland. I have been attending Eastland Church for the last 10 years, and I am so grateful for each person in this Church family. I have found a community that cares about my teens, prays for them, and supports them in whatever they are going through. I have had the honor of serving Eastland Church in the PreK and seeing my kids now serving as well. It is a joy to have a place where they can go and have fun and ask questions and seek Jesus. I hope you come and visit Eastland and get to know some of the amazing people I have gotten to know over the years. You won't regret visiting Eastland this Sunday! Pastor Jared tells it in the most positive and understanding for everyone. Love our church family. I love this church I have truly felt an amazing community here and made friends that will last a lifetime
