What visitors say

I attended this church for a few years before leaving due to several serious concerns. One major issue was encountering racism—on one occasion, a parishioner openly displayed Confederate flag memorabilia in their home and then shared stories about how they felt “violated” by Black people during their childhood. I am not their therapist, and I found this deeply inappropriate and disturbing. This wasn’t in the church- but this member was a long-term and well-known member of the congregation. In addition, leadership appears more focused on nepotism than on discerning and appointing leaders with true spiritual gifts (I believe Pastor James is Pastor Mike’s son-in-law, with one of Pastor James’ son leading youth group). There is a clear dynamic of in-groups and out-groups, and leadership is resistant to feedback or meaningful self-reflection. For example, when accessibility needs (such as ensuring written materials are in accessible formats) were raised about their children’s brochures/wayfinding, they dismissed and resisted making improvements. Some church attendees in a prayer group I attended a few years back even prayed for a particular presidential candidate to win an election, which is inappropriate in a church setting. This seeded some division there and made me not want to come back. Families within the church often appear resistant to change, and “diversity” is treated more as a marketing or fundraising point rather than a true value. Finally, missionary work seems more focused on creating travel opportunities and photo-ops for church insiders than on uplifting the people they claim to serve. These issues combined led me to leave, and I could not recommend this church as a spiritually healthy or inclusive place. Edited 9/25/25: Case in point. So the gentleman who just left a 5 start review, John Robert, appears to be from a John Tolo who runs the Godtown ministries and is essentially getting RLC church dollars. Not sure if it is actually him posting, but if it is, of course this person will rate the church well. And of course it feels like home to them. They are supported by RLC and get donations from parishioners. The pastor here is a really awesome person. He was willing to help me out with a tough situation without judgment Love the cultural diverse ethnic church family here. Great teaching , worship, and community outreach events. I come here a lot from out of town to attend various conferences too, which they host (IHOP Regional Conference from Kansas City one year)! They talk about being a welcoming community but have nothing but cliques. There is a false sense of welcome here. If you're not part of a clique you're basically invisible and no one wants to engage with you. If you don't know someone in the church you will be an outcast. Similarly there is a lot of annoying fear mongering and political rhetoric. And finally, one of the higher ups who I trusted and asked to pray for my Dad flat out said to expect God not to heal my Dad. I do not know the reason for that person telling me that but it seriously wounded me. I will not name the person but want others to be aware. Suffice to say I refuse to attend this place any further. Hello I have been visiting redeeming love since July 2023! and the pastors there are very nice and caring and the church is a loving atmosphere for those that need nurturing! I have visited many churches in my lifetime, but I believe that Redeeming loves for exceeds the love that I never experienced before. God bless you all and if anyone needs encouragement, Redeeming love would be the church for you! They are truly the Hands & feet of Jesus! This ministry is focused on Winning souls salvation is available to all who are willing to say yes to Jesus! The hospitality that I and my Daughter have experience visiting Redeeming Love is such a inspiration of God’s love I will definitely be coming back to attend church there. Hopefully I can become a member.
