I was visiting from NY the weekend of Palm Sunday and happened upon this church. May I begin by saying it is very welcoming. Although the inside physical space does not resemble a typical Catholic Church, more of a chapel, the congregation makes it feel majestic. The service itself was very theatrical and the choir and cantor appeared to be composed of professionals. If the same formula was present in my home parish, it would be packed every weekend. With a back injury on my walk across town to my improv class my phone died. I saw a Catholic church with a homeless jesus sleeping on a bench outside. I saw plaques about helping people. I walk inside and explain my predicament to the desk guy. I need my phone to navigate public transport or hail a ride. I don’t know how much further I can walk due to my injury. Guy says he doesn’t have a phone charger. Completely unsympathetic. I say you don’t have a usb c cable? I say looking at a modern desk setup, his own phone present. He explains that no, he does not. It’s funny how this interaction compresses everything about why I don’t go to church despite coming from a Catholic family into a single moment. The priest was probably the best homilist that I've ever heard. The congregation was a pure community and they were committed to assisting in any way they could to help the residents. God's presence could definitely be felt. Beautiful place to worship & extraordinarily welcoming. Brought my family on Easter Sunday (pic below). Lovely dainty little parish with an active and enthusiastic community, friendly church servers and absolutely wonderful choir!!
