East Bay Children's Book Project is a small community based organization that works to put good books into the hands of children in need. We rent space in the First Congregational Church of Oakland where our clients, who are teachers, social workers, medical providers and other nonprofits, come to choose books for the children they serve. We have been renting our space for 9almost years and our experience here has been excellent. It is a beautiful, historic building, our rent is very reasonable, our space works very well for our needs. Ronnie, the building coordinator, is very easy to communicate with and is responsive to our needs. He makes an effort to get to know us and supports our mission. We highly recommend the First Congregational Church of Oakland as a space for any community organization to rent. It is welcoming and has many types of spaces that can accommodate a wide variety of needs. My nonprofit organization, Genesis Interfaith Organizing, has been a tenant of First Congregational for nearly a decade. The event space has a good amount of free (safe) parking, many good options for large and small gathering and a great staff that will support your event. The location is near public transit (a few blocks from BART, many AC Transit options). I recommend the space as it centrally located and a nice communal vibe. FCCO is an amazing community space that charges very reasonable rates for hosting events. It was a pleasure meeting and working with Ronnie and Brian to find a space to record some music in. They are both so kind, warm and attentive and helped me immensely in getting my recording project completed. If you need a venue to host your next event don't hesitate to reach out to Ronnie today! I have been renting space for teaching classes at FCCO for seventeen years! 17 YEARS of excellent service and rapport. * FCCO always has our room clean, organized and ready for us. I never have to worry if the room is going to be setup when I get there. This is so valuable in itself because it means NO STRESS for me. Something I cannot say for some of our other rentals. THANKS FCCO! * Ronnie, who is in charge of bookings, is a pleasure to work with and a breath of fresh air. You can tell that he enjoys working with people and he truly cares about your experience at FCCO. He is professional, organized & friendly. * Brian is also pretty darn awesome! He is in charge of setting up our class for us and is ALWAYS there if we ever need anything or help of any kind. We feel like we are in good hands with Brian every single night. * Yes, the building is old and needs some repairs ... but honestly, this does not affect our experience at all. It is immaculately clean and the excellent service and welcoming attitude cancels that out! THANK YOU FCCO. FCCO has hosted California Revels since 2019, giving us a home when we left the nearby Scottish Rites complex. They have provided wonderful support, and helped to save our organization with their gracious welcome and help over the years , especially through Covid and its effects-- and we are now in our 40th Anniversary year! We have our office there, we rehearse there and have performed there. Ronnie Casey and the staff are amazing. They extend the same welcome and professional assistance to all the groups that are lucky enough to share this historic space. As the Artistic Director of California Revels, I know how well they respond to every difficulty!
