Visiting Harvest Church New Orleans 2bearbear at Harvest Church New Orleans NOLA 2bearbear at Harvest Church New Orleans NOLA As it was a Sunday, we had found a local church nearby – a 15 minutes walk from our Airbnb from St. Philip Street. Harvest Church is a Southern Baptist church and is located within Phillis Wheatley Community School. Services start at 10am and when we entered, we were warmly greeted by brothers and sisters here. We were directed to the stairs that led to the gym on the second level where service was held. Everyone was really friendly and we were greeted by Madison and Aaron who directed us to the coffee area where we met Simeon and Justin – who turned out to be the one delivering the message this morning. Connor then greeted us and told us more about the church being planted by Immanuel Church but saw that there was a need in the area and continued serving in Harvest. While seated, we also met Ethan and Katie as well as Naomi. Everyone was just so friendly. The songs were also familiar to us this morning, including “It is well with my soul” and “Blessed Assurance”. The message this morning was from Justin and he expounded from the parable of the Great Banquet taken from Luke 14:15-24 as part of the sermon series on meals with Jesus. Love his delivery where he set the context about the dinner at the Pharisee’s place where it was just about getting awkward...
