What visitors say
I really forged some great friendships here. I appreciated the sincerity of pastor Jay, Nik, and the rest of the pastoral and leadership team (they do have a female pastor, or did when I attended, so that was Wonderful! Super intelligent, gentle, educated woman.) I volunteered in the children's program and it was pretty well led, fun for the kids, nice & clean spaces. The women's ministry was okay. Leadership there was rough at times, and I felt actually failed in some instances. Overall, about what you would find at most places, and there were some really lovely ladies I connected with (not in leadership). Things may have changed since then because it was over 4-5 years ago now. Location is great! The space was renovated during my tenure, and there are true gems of people here, committed to discipling college students in a fun and loving atmosphere. I’ve attended numerous times over the years but don’t intend on ever going back after hearing Pastor Nik Spasovski harassing his neighbor from parking in his cul-de-sac and threatening to call the police if they continue to park near his house right before Christmas. Is this how Jesus would treat a neighbor? Is this what this church preaches as appropriate behavior? How someone treats other human beings outside of church matters, not just at Sunday service. New Life Church has made a huge difference in my life. Attendance is close to 1000 students each week which is really something to behold. Worship is fantastic (contemporary music), the sermons are real and relevant, but the real deal is the small groups. These student led groups meet every week and it's a chance for you to truly connect with other students going through the same walk of life that you are. New Life Church has changed my life for the better. If you're a family looking for a church in Ann Arbor, or a student looking for a church during the school year I can't recommend New Life enough. While I was a student at UofM, God used the people I met at New Life Church to win me over and to show me the truth of the Gospel! They loved me unconditionally and offered me grace & acceptance, even when I shared about my sins and shame. I was challenged, encouraged and helped in my relationship with Christ by this community of believers. They showed me what it looks like to live out the Gospel in our everyday lives. So glad that the Lord used them in my life and would highly recommend this church to anyone! :) And I would especially recommend getting involved with a smallgroup ;) Started out great, but then I learned how clique oriented the small groups were. Very "in-group" centered. A lot of the men (and women) I encountered were not living god's word Monday - Saturday but pretending to on Sunday morning. Through attending this church, I came to not believe in the god I always followed. Now I'm thankful for it, but attending church here was horrible.
