What visitors say

This Catholic Church is truly my go-to church whenever I feel the need for God’s grace, guidance, and peace. It’s a beautiful place where I can pray, reflect, and feel closer to God. The welcoming community makes every visit feel warm and meaningful. Every visit brings a sense of comfort and renewal to my heart. I’m grateful to have a church where I can come whenever I need to reconnect with my faith and seek God’s presence. 🙏❤️ On Saturday, September 13th, I came to Christ Our King seeking reconciliation and healing. I approached Father Spencer for confession, but instead of grace, I was met with judgment. He refused to hear my confession and told me I was living in a permanent state of adultery—because I had married someone who was previously married outside the Church and had not received an annulment. I left feeling humiliated and spiritually shaken. What made this even more painful is that two years ago, I had confessed the exact same situation to a different priest at this parish. He listened with compassion, offered forgiveness, and gave me penance. He didn’t question my attendance at an Anglican church or my marriage. He simply extended grace. My former priest in Virginia, whom I trust deeply, confirmed that my circumstances—attending an Anglican church and being married to someone who had previously divorced outside the Catholic Church—should not have prevented me from receiving the sacrament of reconciliation. It’s confusing and disheartening that two priests at the same church could respond so differently to the same confession. Why is there such inconsistency in how spiritual care is offered? For someone trying to return to the faith, this contradiction is not just unsettling—it’s damaging. I had been struggling with whether or not to return to the Catholic Church. This experience is exactly why I’ve chosen to attend the Anglican church my husband belongs to. It’s warm, loving, and rooted in the teachings of Jesus Christ. There are still clear expectations for how to live faithfully—but they are delivered with forgiveness and compassion. I respect the Church’s traditions, and I understand they guide how the sacraments are administered. But even within those boundaries, no one deserves to be attacked when seeking mercy. I was on my knees, asking for forgiveness, and was turned away. It was heartbreaking. I have no desire to be part of a church that responds with anger to people who are vulnerable and seeking help. We’re not asking for perfection—we’re asking for grace. We visited your Beautiful Church March 19, attending qthe 9:30 Mass. We were greeted by your new Pastor at the door. Very Nice Priest, we were visiting from Buffalo New York. My Grandson is attending the Citadel and we were staying at a hotel in Mt. pleasant. I found the Church easy to find and everyone was very nice. The Mass and Choir was just like home. On the way out I told Father Spencer I was glad I came. To all of the Parishioners you have a Great Church. The glass doors need to be removed. The extra space is very much needed. I'm a parishioner and even if you do arrive early- often times the place is still packed and you find yourself seated in the back and eventually closed off. However, everyone is extremely friendly and welcoming. A great sense of community even though it is a very large congregation. My wife and I love this church and are thankful to have found such a great parish in Mt. Pleasant! We are both very involved with the music ministry and were both involved in the RCIA program last year as my wife entered the church. Vibrant ministries to be involved in, great music, good location, and solid Catholic teaching. Get there early though, as all masses fill up quickly!
