What visitors say

Attended a symphonic concert here. Architecture is beautiful. Grounds are lovely and well maintained. Acoustics are great. Everyone that was from the church that was helping to host the event were kind and charming. If I lived in the Mt Pleasant area I would definitely visit on a Sunday morning to check them out. Pastor is great. Friendy and welcoming. You know you are safe here. This was what I thought a good church. But unfortunately I was wrong. I have never been more questioned by my faith by this church as a woman. Hang in there. I will tell you why and how they did me a a Christian woman. They judged me all the way. I grew up in a Baptist church since I was a little girl. I am 40 years old. So my faith and religion, I have always follow the Lord Jesus Christ, our Savior. I came to this church over 2 years ago. After attending for over 2 years, I asked to be baptized by the church and become a member, in hopes I could raise my children this way and teach them the way of the Load. I met with a pastor and I wrote a testimonial of my faith. I wrote my testimonial and was denied a baptism. He never even addressed my baptism or had an explanation, His very words was “awww that was sweet” regarding my testimonial. Those words broke my heart as I pored my heart out and only to be judged and pushed a way from my faith. I spoke of things I never said to anyone but the pastor. I wanted to say what was in my heart. The next Sunday I watched a man and his little girl get baptized in front of it the church. It was beautiful. The father, a man, Said 3 things in his testimony. It could have been googled. Not heart felt, but I guess that is me. But he was praised and baptized. Praise the Lord. He was new to being a Christian. Proud of that. And was baptized. My point is coming. Men are treated one way in this church and women another. Since then I did still want to be baptized. I seemed I could do this. I have attended a class to be baptized and be come a member. I was so excited to do this and in front of my family. But they wanted me to attend more. I was all for it. The last and 4th meeting was finally with a woman after meeting with others and prolonging my faith. I thought she (rose) would help. She did not and judged me just as the the men. She said to proceed, I would need to take classes. And the homework would be at least 3 hrs a week of time. That is not including the hr and a half class. I just wanted to announce my faith to everyone and anyone, including the Lord. I am a full time working mom of 3. So the obstacles were nearly impossible for a mother of 3 and a full time job. Anyway, It has been not a good experience at this church. I did ask what men did to be baptized. Rose laughed and said. They meet with buster, who is the main pastor at the church. "Men’s meeting". They have a brunch with 200 men and that is their meeting. While the Women do Bible study and 3 hr or home work each week. . It is a man’s church and I love and worship my lord and savior. I will not be apart of such judgement. Sorry I am a women and I don’t fit. As I have read in the gospel. I have learned that no one should judge you but God himself. This has been so heartbreaking for me a a Christian woman. Full time mothers. I wish they had more grace for Christian women who want to be apart of a church and raise the children that way.. We love this church. The people are so nice, genuine and welcoming and the pastor, buster had the best sermons! You can't walk out of there without feeling touched by the holy spirit! There is a more traditional service, a contemporary service and a ton of options for children of all ages. Loving family at this church with strong, powerful preaching of the word. Music is of heavenly worship and they care well for their members souls! ECBC is such a blessing!
